STOP (Stop Throwing Out Pollutants)

The Hicksville Water District strongly encourages the protection of the environment and groundwater at all times. One way to do this is to dispose of hazardous household products at town-sponsored Stop Throwing Out Pollutants (STOP) programs.

To fully appreciate the tremendous environmental value of the program, one needs to simply think about the source of Long Island's drinking water-- the vast underground aquifers situated beneath the earth's surface. (link to water facts aquifers)

No one wants household chemicals and other toxic materials joining the rainwater's migration down to the public water supply.
